Full-time study with the use of distance learning technologies
The MTM technology is based on inventions patented in the Russian Federation and was approved for use in 2001. Since then, it has been widely innovated in 44 countries worldwide.
The method's relevence is primarily determined by its contactless implementation for difficult-to-reach pipelines (underground or underwater) with any type of insulation coatings without the need to remove and clean the metal surface.
Our short course gives an overview of the basics, scope, possibilities, and limitations of technical diagnosis using the Magnetic Tomography Method (MTM).
Preparation is not necessary for the object. Metal control volume - 100% (all along). MTM surveys that use a risk-based methodology have the advantage of considering actual mechanical stresses in real operating conditions.
It should be especially noted that MTM is applicable on pipelines not equipped with start-up and reception chambers (un-piggable), the length of which, even in industrialized countries, is up to 80% of the entire length of the pipeline network. The magnitude of the problem to be resolved is immense due to the fact that pipeline traffic is hundreds of thousands of times larger than any other form of transportation.
Magnetic diagnostics technologies are being prioritized by Russia, which enable them to not only survey the pipeline network but also digitize it, producing digital copies of objects.
This program is suitable for you if:
Your aim is to enhance your skills and acquire new competencies in the field of non-destructive testing and safety of hazardous production facilities.
Comprehending the physical foundations and principles behind the Magnetic Tomography Method for pipeline and equipment technical diagnostics.
The ability to determine MTM as the optimal method of non-destructive testing, considering its capabilities and limitations for specific production conditions.
Common understanding of the methodology for conducting MTM surveys, interpretation of results, and assessment of the technical condition of control facilities.

The course was created with the support of STIC MSU "Vorobyovy Gory"
The main idea behind the establishment of the STIC MSU is to create an innovative ecosystem of global standards in the new territory of MSU to implement the priorities of Russia's scientific and technological development.
Additionally, it aims to enhance the investment appeal of the research and development sector, to commercialise their results, and to expand access for individuals and legal entities to participate in promising, commercially attractive scientific and scientific-technical projects.
